Laptop

LAPTOP

An old man ponders a brand new toy,
such as he never dreamed of as a little boy.
Then, a five cent tablet was a wonderful treasure,
And gave him hours of creative pleasure.

He has travelled since over many trails;
Long before PC's, webs and E mails.
He learned to type on Oliver # 9
And thought he had arrived and was doing fine.

Then came a portable Underwood;
A brand new machine, My! That was good.
It soon wore out, too many stencils,
But he was too sophisticated to go back to pencils.

Then I.B.M.'s with features galore
Entered with pride, then went out the door.
Next came the electronic with multiple fonts;
Surely this was the answer to all of his wants.

Then he realized that paper was piling up fast;
He conceded a computer was needed at last.
He got the whole works including scanner and printer
and proceeded to work several summers and winters.

The first one wore out and along came another,
with more bells and whistles, technology did smother.
Now along comes the laptop, puts them all in the shade.
It's really a 'duzie', but he's somewhat afraid.

It's got lots of features and many surprises.
But what are they for? One only surmises.
He needs to make changes and says 'maybe this'l!
And somewhere in Kansas it launches a missle.
