When the blessings fall from heaven
Be it Sunday morn or night
Those who find the greatest bounty
Are the ones whose hearts are right.
For the cold, indifferent Christian,
With mind on worldly things
Can't recognize real pleasures
Like Heaven's blessings bring!
Instead of yielding to the Spirit
He can only criticize,
Or sit and make excuses
While others get the prize!
Then while others are rejoicing
He mumbles and complains,
and gets not a single blessing,
While around a shower rains!
Now if you're not enjoying services,
Try yielding Christ your heart,
Then when blessings fall from Heaven,
You'll surely get your part!

Christ Died For Our Sins
He visited his psychiatrist,
paid fifty dollars for an hour
of confession on the office couch
to rob sin of it's power
But sin still made it's presence felt,
He had no ease for heart and mind
He gave a lot to charity
Still, peace he couldn't find.
Psychology and philosophy,
big words and phrases wise,
told him, sin is only relative,
in each beholders eyes!
He thought, if this be true, I wonder why
true Christians seem so free
of guilt and shame and nameless fears
like these that bother me?
Then at last, in desperation,
before the cross, he knelt,
and wisdom that no school could teach
was in the peace he felt!
Christ died for our sins. That's the answer
for sin's burdens to be done away!
Just come to the one who died for them
and with His blood, He'll wash them away!

The Big Lie
Up from the bottomless pits of hell,
one purpose to fulfill,
comes Satan and his angels,
to cheat, deceive and kill.
To the youth they say, Enjoy yourself,
Have a little drink!
After all, you're young but once
And it's later than you think!
To the young man with a future,
They say, A Christian life
May be fine for old fuddie-duddies,
But not You and your Wife!
Don't read the Bible to your child,
Just leave it on the shelf~
Maybe when he's older
He'll read it for himself!
Don't worry about your silly soul~
Just believe the lies we tell~
[Then, someday, how we'll howl with glee
When you plunge off into hell!]

comes Satan and his angels,
to cheat, deceive and kill.
