ON THE ROAD TO GLORY
Some folks think the narrow road,
So confining and so straight;
Is not the most appealing way
To get to heaven’s gate.
And so the ways devised by men
Are as numerous as the stars;
They’ll try to get to Glory
By ships and trains and cars.
On big balloons, some folks ride,
Floating with the wind
Of all mankind’s opinions;
But God’s will, they’ll ne’er attend.
While others ride a tractor
With a ‘dozer’ blade on front;
It doesn’t matter what the Bible says;
They’ll go the way they want!
Yet others board the ‘glory train’
And find the sleeping car;
While others are more ‘social’;
They’ll find the ‘smoker’ or the bar.
Then, on the ‘strato-liner’ super jet,
So high above the clouds,
You’ll find the pious Pharisees,
With their self-righteous crowds.
There are those in chauffeured limousines,
Who just relax and ride along,
While others do the driving-
They’ll just gripe when things go wrong!
Ships? Titanics still sail daily,
With every cabin full;
With assurance they’re unsinkable;
Life on board is never dull.
While on the straight and narrow way.
Struggling ‘neath his cross,
The weary Pilgrim looks to Jesus,
And never suffers loss.
