WHEN I BECAME A MAN

When I was a child
I played with my toys;
Boats, cars and trucks,
Like most little boys.

Hide and seek, and Red Rover
Were played by the rules;
Sometimes we played Church;
Sometimes we played School.

But gone are the days
Of Stick Horse and Toy Gun;
The pleasures are different,
But still we have fun!

Church is no longer,
A game that we play;
And preaching is serious;
But it’s better this way!

It’s much more exciting,
Now to worship for real;
To reach out in prayer,
And tell how we feel.

Things are much better now,
With childish things put away;
If I can just learn to trust,
Like a child, every day!
