THE SEARCH FOR WISDOM

I Cor 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Men look toward heaven, to a vast universe;

They search that they might understand

Space without measure, and unnumbered stars;

But God holds it all in His hand!

Man searches and studies, he peers and he gropes

With his books, he fills shelf after shelf;

Yet all of the sum of all he has learned,

Before the creator is folly itself!

Every stone that man turns, exposes to view,

A dozen more things to be learned;

Yet the fountain and source of all wisdom,

Though simple, too often is spurned.

Men study for years, one bug or a germ;

They gaze at the stars and the moon;

While the one who commanded it all to come forth

Might as well go whistle a tune!

The depths of his own dark and devious heart

And the mystery of all that he sees,

No man can ever learn in a school;

But he can get to know God on his knees!

It is Christ who is made unto us wisdom;

Learn Him, whatever the cost;

for though you learned all about creation,

Without Him, you're eternally lost!
