A BEACON SURE
Look! There upon the sea of life,
Blown about and tossed,
Is one so ladened down with sin,
He's surely to be lost!
See! There upon the rocky shore,
Beyond the treacherous shoal,
The beach, all strewn with wreckage
Of those who failed to reach their goal.
Some tried to make the harbor
Without a pilot or a guide;
'We're the captains of our own souls'!
They claimed with foolish pride.
Or, blown about by wind of doctrine
That changed from day to day,
Deceived into destruction,
They missed the Living Way.
Lord, help me, then, to hold up Christ,
Let His light shine forth in me;
A beacon sure, to guide lost souls,
Lest they too, be 'lost at sea'!
