EXCITEMENT

I find a lot of things exciting
And they give me quite a thrill;
But there’s none can match the knowledge
That my salvation’s real!

Some may marvel at the White House
And gaze in wonder at each room -
I find there’s nothing so amazing
As my Saviour’s empty tomb!

I can contemplate the grandeur
Of the angels ‘round his throne
And anticipate the glory
When He comes to call us home;

But I don’t have to wait to greet him
When I meet him in the air,
For he promised that he’d answer
When I go to him in prayer!

Here’s a thrill the world can’t match;
The living Christ within my heart;
Promises for eternity;
And of daily life, a part.

WHAT MANNER OF MAN?

Whose steps are these that falter?
Whose blood is this that falls?
Who is this , the crowd mocks so?
Whose voice is this that calls?

Whence came this man that carries a cross?
See! Here, He stumbled and fell!
What means now this howling discord of glee,
That resounds from the vile depths of hell?

What manner of man! Not a whimper of fear;
Not a sound of anger is heard!
What love that cries out, “Forgive them”!
Stand! Marvel in awe at each word!

Who is this that the sun shouldn’t shine?
Why darkness to cover the scene?
Call heaven and earth now to witness,
It never shall happen again!

Never again shall a man like this suffer;
Never again shall such a one die!
But who is this man that lives again,
Who’s lifted to reign there on high!

Some knew him as master of storm and sea!
Some saw a man who could feed!
Some saw a great physician and friend
To some He met EVERY need!

To some a teacher and leader;
But to God and all heaven above,
This child of promise, of Bethlehem,
Is the wonderful gift of his love!
