THE FAITHFUL FEW


With five loaves and two small fishes,
Five thousand men were fed;
What a great man was this Jesus,
To give so many bread!


They marveled at His healings;
They clamored for His touch;
They wondered at His power;
Man’s eyes had ne’er seen such!


They pressed about Him closely,
To hear what He might say;
But His saying was a hard one,
And many turned away!


Only the faithful few were left,
And so it is today;
When the road is rough and rocky,
Many turn away.


But those who really love Him,
Though called to give their all;
This faithful few will follow
Where ever He may call.


Though forsaken by the many
In fields of labor and in pew,
Christ yet will gain the victory
Through the faithful few.
