OVER THERE
Over the hill of life,
Beyond the great divide,
Across the river and through the vale,
There lies a land so wide.
No clouds or darkness dim the light
Of its eternal day;
The flowers bloom and never die
Along each shining way.
No graveyard there, nor funeral hymn
To sadden any heart;
Where friend holds fellowship with friend,
Nevermore to part.
In the fruitful fields, no tares will grow;
There's no such word as ‘sin';
No sickness, harm or danger
Can ever enter in.
In this land, there is a City;
Its streets are purest gold;
Its walls of jasper, gleaming'
What glory to behold!
The Lamb is the light of that City
And the Tree of Life is there;
And the river's gently flowing,
And there never falls a tear!
Your passport and your ticket
To this bright promised land
Is yours just for the taking
From the Saviour's pierced hand!
