I'D LIKE TO - -
I'd like to take a canvas,
And with brushes and with paint,
Show the beauty of His love;
But I can't!
I'd like to set to music,
Mighty anthems to His praise,
And direct a swelling chorus,
Such as heaven's host might raise;
But I can't!
I'd like to give a million dollars
To build churches for the Lord,
And send a hundred missionaries
To preach His word abroad;
But I can't!
I'd like to preach to kings and princes
With the eloquence of Paul
In every court in every land
Till I had won them all!
But I can't!
I can't serve my Lord with daydreams,
But there's much that I can do.
I can tell about His wondrous love,
And sing about it too!
I can give as God has prospered;
He really asks for nothing more;
And I may never meet a king or prince,
But I meet many that are poor.
I may not speak with silver tongue,
But the peace He gave to me,
Is well within my power to tell,
And how He set me free!
I just can't do a lot of things;
Though they might be lots of fun,
But if I just do the things I can,
I'll hear Him say "Well done!"
