THE MOUNTAIN TOPS OF GOD

I saw a great high mountain,
With an altar built thereon,
On which faithful Abraham
Would sacrifice his own son.

But an angel called to Abraham
And said, “Withhold thy hand,
For I know that thou fearest God,
And thy seed shall be as sand.”

Then I saw another mountain,
With thunder, lightning, and smoke.
And the mountain started quaking,
And the voice of the Lord then spoke.

The Law He there gave Moses,
To deliver to Israel;
He was God, they should serve Him,
And follow after Baal.

I saw still another mountain,
And a valley deep and wide,
And two armies in their armor,
One on either side.

From one side, came a giant,
Boasting, large and strong,
Till David with the help of God,
Slew him with a stone.

Another mountain then I saw,
The Son of God was there,
He had fasted forty days,
And the mountain top was bare.

He was weary, tired and hungry,
When satan came and said,
If thou be the Son of God,
Change these stones to bread.

Jesus rebuked the devil,
And I see another mount,
With Jesus standing, preaching,
Of things that really count.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
Blessed are they that mourn,
Blessed are the merciful,
Of heaven they are born.

I saw another mountain
And Jesus praying there,
The hour was fast approaching,
And no-one seemed to care.

And yet, another mountain,
Perhaps more important than them all,
And its name is Mount Golgotha,
And it’s here, I heard His call.

It was there they hung Him on the cross;
It was there His blood was shed;
It was there He died that cruel death,
And suffered in my stead!

I saw another mountain,
And His disciples gathered there.
The risen Saviour in their midst,
Then caught up in the air.

All these mountains, I have seen,
And all I hold quite deara;
But there’s still one mount I look for,
And one the lost should fear.

As Jesus left Mount Olive,
So, will He return;
But then with fire and vengeance.
And all the world shall BURN!

These mountains, anyone may see,
If they’ll but look and hear,
But if they will not heed His word,
These mountains, they should fear!

For all of these are witnesses,
Of the true and living God,
Who created earth and heaven,
And made man of the sod.

And all of them shall testify,
At the mount of God’s white throne,
That they have told the world about
The death of His own Son!
