OPEN THOU MINE EYES

I’ve seen the desert bloom in glory
Under flashing morning skies,
But to salvation’s wondrous story,
Lord, open thou mine eyes.

‘Though these eyes of flesh grow dimmer
And are often filled with tears,
Let the sight of all your riches, Lord,
Grow brighter with the years!

Let me see how much you’ve loved me;
Show me victory through your word
And to the peace that comes through service,
Let my eyes be open, Lord!

Let me run with eyes upon you
And strive to win the prize.
Let me be blind to Satan’s tempting,
But open THOU mine eyes.

Open thou mine eyes, I pray,
With my heart, Lord, I would see
From the pages of your Holy Word
What you’ve prepared for me.
