BY THY GRACE, I WILL

At first, I said, “It’s just no use-
I know I’m not the one
To do the job you’re asking,
And , besides, it can’t be done!:

But, after many prayerful tears
And many a doleful sigh,
I said, “I think it’s hopeless,
But if you want me to, I’ll try.”

Then, to His word, He took me
And showed that God has never failed;
When His servants claimed His promises,
They always have prevailed.

And now, Lord, let this be my prayer,
When faced with any task,
“Just give me grace to walk by faith,
And do any job you ask!:

In the midst of all uncertainties,
Let this resolve, my being, fill;
“I may not know the how or why,
But by Thy grace, I WILL!
