I SURRENDER ALL


My body ached, “ I can’t go on !”
Then it seemed I heard
The cutting lash fall on His back,
And He uttered not a word!


My heart was broken, I was so alone;
My friends all turned aside;
Then I seemed to hear an anguished voice
From one just crucified.


“Why has thou forsaken me?”
It seemed I heard Him moan.
Then I knew one understood;
He died so all alone!


Every time I stop, it seems
A sound from Calvary,
Through years of time, falls on my ear;
A sound meant just for me.
