IF GOD SHOULD FAIL
If God should ever falter,
Or his word should ever fail,
Or one child ever call him
In prayer, to no avail;
Or if his love and patience
Should pause and end his grace,
What despair and utter tragedy
Would face the human race!
The stars would fall from heaven;
The earth would cease to turn;
And man would perish, hopeless;
If God, his call should spurn.
For God's promise to his children
Is written in his word;
If we'll call him when we need him,
We always will be heard!
The birds would hush their singing,
And make a mournful cry,
If God should break one promise,
And lose his throne on high.
But it's settled for eternity;
He will never suffer loss,
And he'll never fail us as we stand
In the shadow of the cross!
