THE GOLDEN RULE

"Do unto others”, Jesus said,
“As you would have them do unto you.”
But someone spoke an angry word,
And I spoke in anger too.

“If someone makes you go a mile,
Then travel with him twain”;
But I tried to make a friend return
And walk the first with me again.

He said to love your enemy,
But I misused a friend;
I’m glad my savior’s not like me;
He’ll stand by me till the end!

Though we’re weak, and often fail Him,
And we sometimes play the fool,
Aren’t you glad our Jesus
Never breaks the Golden Rule?!
