SOON

I said, soon as the year began,
“I must get busy for I don’t know when,
The Lord will come and call me home.”

In the Spring, I tried to find the time,
To serve the Lord, but I was so far behind
In other things, The Lord just had to wait.

In Summer, what with vacations and all,
The Lord could surely wait till Fall;
I’d have lots of time then.

God was good to give us Fall,
With its colors and harvests and all.
If I’d had a chance, I’d have served Him then,
But ..I just Had to put Him off again.

Winter’s so cold , it just doesn’t inspire
Service, when it’s so nice by the fire.
But soon as the weather permits it, I’m sure,
I’ll start serving God and doing lots more.
If the Lord delays His coming.

Luke 12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying,
the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do,
because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns,
and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits
and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods
laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and
be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul
shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things
be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not
rich toward God.
