WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO PRAY?


Some say it’s superstition,
And foolishness to pray;
To think of talking to God
In such a simple way.


But I know it’s real; I know it’s good;
And a thing that’s wise to do.
I’ve tried it and I know its power;
And you can know it too!


Fire came down from heaven,
When Elijah one time prayed;
And in answer, once, to Joshua,
Even the sun was stayed!


Victory in battle,
Oft times came by prayer,
And so can daily victory
O’er sin and worldly care.


If prayer could raise the dead to life,
It’s good enough, I know,
To lift me when I stumble,
And my spirits feel so low!


What good does it do to pray, you ask,
It’s not the prayer, per se;
But the granting of our petition,
By our God, In His own time and way.


What good does it do to pray, you ask?
Just try, my friend, and see,
That God will answer prayer for you,
Just like He’s done for me!
